The International Festival of Spanish Keyboard Music is held every year in the Andalusian town of Almería.
The 13th International Festival of Spanish Keyboard Music FIMTE 2012 will be held in Mojácar and Garrucha, Almería, Andalusia , 11 to 14 October 2012, The festival will feature both mainstream and fringe concerts, an international symposium on Antonio Soler keyboard works and a workshop on performance-related issues with Luisa Morales.
The programme consists of concerts performed with historic keyboard instruments such as the organ and the clavichord. It also has courses, workshops and exhibitions. This is a meeting point for professionals and experts from all over the world in this field, as well as instrument-makers, where the latest developments and research in Spanish keyboard music are brought to light.
Founded in 2000 by Luisa Morales, the International Festival of Spanish Keyboard Music (FIMTE) is now internationally recognised as a leader in the field of Spanish Keyboard Music. Through a wide array of performances, scholarly and educational events, FIMTE has earned its place as a leading presentation venue for scholars and performers of Spanish keyboard music and has secured FIMTE’s reputation as one of the most important annual celebrations of Spanish music. FIMTE was created to commemorate Diego Fernández, the Spanish harpsichord builder to Queen Maria Barbara and who was born in Almería, where FIMTE is celebrated.
Over the years, FIMTE has evolved from a festival into an institution organising activities all year long, always with the aim of promoting the rich heritage of Spanish keyboard music and making it available to a wider audience.
